Jani Hakanpaa Joins the Rivermen

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has assigned defenseman Jani Hakanpaa to their AHL affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen. Their fourth round pick (104th overall) of the 2010 Entry Draft, Hakanpaa recently completed his season with the Espoo Blues of SM-liiga.

Hakanpaa, 20, recorded five points (three goals, two assists) in 34 games with the Blues of SM-liiga, Finland's top professional league. The 6'5, 218-pound native of Kirkkonummi, has played a total in 75 games for Espoo and recorded 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) over the past two seasons.

Hakanpaa also dressed in seven games for Team Finland at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships posting three points including a goal and two assists.
