Scorpions Hire Preston Petri

SAN ANTONIO - The Scorpions have named San Antonio native, Preston Petri as the Director of Media Relations and Social Media for the club, President and General Manager Howard Cornfield announced on Tuesday.
Petri will oversee all media relations aspects involving the organization, as well as the dissemination of all Scorpions public information. He will head all internal and external communications of the team's players, coaches and front office staff, and will oversee the release of information on all of the Scorpions' social media platforms. His role will help serve the day-to-day needs of the local and national media.
Petri comes to the Scorpions after serving as a Basketball Communications Intern with the New Orleans Hornets in the National Basketball Association. Prior to the Hornets, Petri spent time as a Media Relations Intern with the New York Yankees and Houston Astros in Major League Baseball.
"I couldn't be more excited to join the impressive front office that the Scorpions have put together," said Petri. "It is a dream come true to work for my hometown team, and I can't wait to get started."
Born and raised in San Antonio, Petri attended Central Catholic High School and graduated in 2007 before getting a BA in Media Communications from Webster University in St. Louis, MO in 2011.
The Scorpions are currently preparing for their second season as a member of the North American Soccer League, and their first season in their new 8,000 capacity stadium, Toyota Field. The 2013 Scorpions home opener will take place on April 13 vs. the Tampa Bay Rowdies.
