Griffins Clip Bulldogs 2-1
March 8, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Grand Rapids, Michigan - The Grand Rapids defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-1 on Friday night at Van Andel Arena. Tomas Jurco scored both goals for the Griffins while Petr Mrazek stopped 30 shots for the victory.
The Griffins opened the scoring at 13:43 of the opening frame on a goal by Jurco. Louis-Marc Aubry slid the puck to Jurco who flipped the puck over down and out Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Dustin Tokarski. With that goal, Tokarski's shutout streak ended at 161 minutes and 2 seconds.
The Bulldogs tied the score at 3:45 of the second stanza on Joey Tenute's third goal in four games. Patrick Holland took a shot which was stopped by Mrazek and Tenute buried the rebound into the back of the net. Tenute also extended his point streak to five games, which is a Bulldogs season-high.
Grand Rapids took a 2-1 lead at 9:12 of the third period as Jurco notched his second tally of the contest as he snapped a wicked wrist shot from the high slot which flew through Tokarski. The Griffins outshot the Bulldogs 33-31 to finish the game.
