McNeill Assigned to Wheeling

February 28, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) - Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins News Release


WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - It was announced today that the Pittsburgh Penguins have assigned defenseman Reid McNeill from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL).

Skating in his first pro season, McNeill made his AHL debut with the Penguins on Sunday at Bridgeport. McNeill, 20, has recorded one goal, four assists and 39 penalty minutes in 27 games for the Nailers this year.

Originally from London, Ontario, McNeill split three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League (2009-12) with the London Knights and Barrie Colts, totaling 23 points (7G-16A) and 162 PIM in 166 contests. McNeill, 20, was a sixth-round selection (#170) of Pittsburgh in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are holding their first Welsh Heritage Night on Friday, March 1 as they host the Hershey Bears at 7:05PM. It is the return of Dollar Draft Night, sponsored by Bottlenecks Saloon in Wilkes-Barre.
