IceCaps Join Fight against Climate Change
February 28, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL) - St. John's IceCaps News Release
The St. John's IceCaps are helping the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador in their efforts to increase public awareness of climate change.
Turn Back the Tide is an initiative of the Provincial Government designed to promote understanding of climate change and energy efficiency, and inspire action by all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
As part of this partnership, starting March 1st and continuing through the end of the IceCaps home schedule, there will be in-game events and contests through facebook.com/turnbackthetide. Fans can win IceCaps merchandise such as autographed sticks, jerseys, photos, game tickets and game-ready IceCaps St. Patrick's Day jerseys. Additionally, the IceCaps will promote Turn Back the Tide messages significantly through game night productions, its website and social media channels.
Individuals, businesses and communities can take action to reduce their carbon footprints by improving their energy efficiency and reducing their waste. For further information, log on to www.turnbackthetide.ca.
The IceCaps start a six-game homestand Friday against the Manchester Monarchs. Catch all the action with broadcaster Brian Rogers at stjohnsicecaps.com and on 930 AM This Is Newfoundland Labrador, or watch online at ahllive.com. Friday's contest can also be seen live on Rogers TV. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m. with the pregame show getting underway at 7:00 (all times Newfoundland).
