Ontario Reign News Release

ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, have made some changes behind the crease adding rookie goaltender Sergei Kostenko to the roster.

Kostenko, 20, joins the Reign after playing in six games with the ECHL's Reading Royals, the Russian goalie had a 4.01 goals-against average and 0.869 save percentage. His record with the Royals was 2-1-2.

From 2009-12 Kostenko played junior hockey in Russia and after a total of 87 games, he had 27 wins, five career shutouts, and a goals-against average of 3.09.

A 42-save shutout win against a team of Quebec Major Junior Hockey League All-Stars in 2011 garnered the attention of the Washington Capitals who then selected the 5-foot-11, 187-pound Kostenko in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft in the seventh round, number 203 overall.

In 2010 Kostenko represented Russia at the U-18 World Junior Championship, and again at the U-20 World Junior Championship in 2012.
