February 18, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones (31-17-4-2) winning streak was snapped at five by the Kalamazoo Wings (26-22-4-1) by a final score of 4-1 in front of 2,504 at U.S. Bank Arena on Monday afternoon.

Kalamazoo lit the lamp twice in a 42 second stretch late in the first period. At the 16:24 mark, Sam Ftorek slapped home a shot from the top of the left circle after Brett Lysak found him with a cross ice pass. The Wings extended their lead to a pair with Jeff Pierce's tally from the right side at 17:06. The Wings held their 2-0 lead for the remainder of the opening frame.

The Wings struck again with just 25 seconds expired in the second. Tyler Shelast was credited with a goal after Cincinnati net minder Brian Foster (L, 19 saves, 18-7-4) misplayed a puck and it trickled between the pipes. The Cyclones would be on the attack for the rest of the period, totaling 21 shots on goal. However, Wings goaltender Joel Martin (W, 40 saves, 24-19-4-1) made several spectacular saves and helped his team carry the 3-0 advantage into the second intermission.

The Cyclones finally got on the board 1:56 into the final stanza. After a Wings turnover in their own zone, Mattias Lindstrom fired a shot that bounced off Martin's right pad and directly to Taylor Ellington. The Cincinnati defender cannoned a shot from the left side and into the back of the net to cut the deficit to 3-1. With 6:40 left in the game, Lysak would add a backhander on a breakaway to put the contest out of reach for Cincinnati. The teams skated scoreless for the final few minutes and Kalamazoo held on for the 4-1 victory.
