Cincinnati Cyclones News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones (31-16-4-2) extended their current winning streak to five games by defeating the Trenton Titans (20-25-4-3) by a final score of 5-2 on Saturday night in front of 5,083 at U.S. Bank Arena. The victory was also the fifth straight for Cincinnati goaltender Brian Foster.

David MacDonald got the scoring started for the Cyclones at the 5:41 mark of the opening stanza. Despite being down a player due to a Davide Nicoletti penalty, Cincinnati went on the attack. MacDonald, while cutting down the left side, received a pass from Mathieu Aubin and sent a wrist shot past Trenton goaltender Scott Wedgewood (L, 35 saves, 15-18-3-1) for a shorthanded tally. The Cyclones took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

A flurry of goals during a 1:45 stretch in the middle of the second period put the Cyclones firmly in front. At 11:48, Aubin wrapped behind the Trenton net and found Trevor Lewis in the slot. Lewis slipped the puck past the pad of Wedgewood for a 2-0 Cyclones lead. Just 1:17 later Mike Embach lit the lamp on a one-timer from Charles-Olivier Roussel. The Embach goal would end up being the game-winner, his fourth such goal of the season. After only 28 seconds of action, Josh Shalla pushed the Cincinnati edge to 4-0 on a breakaway as he split the two Titans defensemen and sent a backhander through the legs of the Trenton net minder.

The scoring would continue for the Cyclones in the final frame when Dan Eves knocked home his own rebound to give his team a 5-0 advantage with 7:50 left in the contest. Trenton would add late goals by Jacob Drewiskie and Kory Nagy, but it would be too little too late as the Cyclones held on for the 5-2 victory. Brian Foster (W, 24 saves, 18-6-4)earned the win in net for Cincinnati, his fifth in as many games.
