Stewart Stymies Colorado, Condors Win 4-1

February 16, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Bakersfield Condors News Release

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. - G Brian Stewart repeatedly denied the Colorado Eagles (24-23-1-2, 51pts), making an ECHL season-high 52 saves to carry the Bakersfield Condors (16-34-2-3, 37pts) Friday night at Rabobank Arena.

Bakersfield jumped out to an early lead, scoring their quickest goal to start a game this season. LW Jacob Lagace took a centering feed out in front and had two whacks at it before lighting the lamp just 14 seconds into the game. After that, power plays helped put Colorado on the attack, to the tune of a 17-7 shot lead in the first. G Brian Stewart was equal to the task, however, holding the lead.

The offense exploded in the second as the Condors busted out three goals on 14 shots. RW Scott Freeman and F Nicholas Tremblay tallied back-to-back to make it 3-0 Bakersfield. The Eagles finally solved Stewart at 16:33 of the second, only to be answered by F Evan Trupp just 92 seconds later to regain the three-goal lead.

Neither club scored in the third period, as Bakersfield pulled back their attack to preserve the win. Stewart completed his stellar evening with 16 more saves in the third to finish with 52 on the night.
