Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN -- Even more Major League Baseball experience will be injected into the Haymarket Park clubhouse in 2013 as the Saltdogs have signed former Phillies and Nationals RHP Joe Bisenius.

Bisenius has pitched in seven big league games in his career, most recently in 2010 with Washington. In 6 2/3 innings, the right-hander has allowed five runs and struck out eight batters. He pitched in two games for the Phillies in 2007.

In addition to reaching baseball's Holy Grail twice, with two different clubs, Bisenius has pitched six years at the Triple-A level and five seasons at Double-A.

The 30-year old pitched for Aguascalientes and Saltillo of the Triple-A Mexican League in 2012, going a combined 9-10 with a 4.92 in 22 starts. He struck out 102 batters in 128 innings.

Bisenius has pitched nine professional seasons as a starter and reliever. The Sioux City, Iowa native has gone 39-31 with a 4.10 ERA and 13 saves, fanning 545 in 588 1/3 innings.

The 6-foot-4 hurler was originally selected by Philadelphia in the 12th round of the 2004 draft out of Oklahoma City University.

All three members of the new Saltdogs coaching staff (Ken Oberkfell, Dan Reichert and John Harris) are MLB veterans. Bisenius is the first player signed to the 2013 roster with MLB experience.

The Saltdogs open up the 2013 season on May 16 at Gary. Their home opener is May 23 against the defending champion Winnipeg Goldeyes! Get your season ticket package now for as low as $115 at www.saltdogs.com or by calling 402-474-2255. Ask us about the special Valentine's Day package at Haymarket for just $50.
