Peoria Rivermen News Release
Jimmy Hayes scored the game-winner and Kyle Beach scored a pair in Rockford's 4-2 win over the Peoria Rivermen Friday night at Carver Arena. Chris Porter and Tyler Shattock scored the Peoria goals as the Rivermen had their five-game point streak.
Peoria opened the scoring on the power play courtesy of Chris Porter. Mark Cundari took a shot from the slot that went wide of the net. The puck bounced off the backboards to Porter, who put it past the right pad of Henrik Karlsson at 10:30 of the first period.
Jeremy Morin tied the game with his 16th marker of the year scored at the 17:16 mark of the first. From the slot, Morin wristed one between the legs of Mike McKenna. Terry Broadhurst earned the only assist on the play.
Tyler Shattock scored a shorthanded goal at 9:51 of the second period to give the Rivermen a 2-1 lead. On a breakaway, Shattock made a forehand to backhand move and slid the puck past a sprawled out Karlsson. Kyle Beach scored a goal on the man advantage to tie the game just 25 seconds later. Brad Mills and Ben Youds assisted on Beach's 11th goal of the season.
Just 2:36 into the third frame, the IceHogs took their first lead of the evening. Jimmy Hayes took a wrist shot that got past the blocker of McKenna. Morin and Broadhurst assisted on the tally.
With 4:47 remaining in the third period, Beach scored his second goal of the night to increase Rockford's lead to two goals. Beach received a feed from Brandon Pirri in the slot and one-timed it past McKenna for the goal.
Rockford outshot Peoria 31-28. The IceHogs went 1-for-3 on the power play while the Rivermen went 1-for-2 on the man advantage.
The Rivermen will visit the Milwaukee Admirals for a game on Sunday at 3 p.m. There will be a watch party at Hooters on the Riverfront in Peoria and the game will be available on CD Country 107.9 FM or online at www.rivermen.net.
