Sioux Falls Stampede News Release


The Sioux Falls Stampede (28-9-1) close out their nine-game road trip with three games in four days this week. On Wednesday, Sioux Falls will travel to Omaha to face the Lancers. On Friday, the Herd are in Lincoln and on Saturday the Stampede will visit Sioux City. Game times are 7:05 PM each night and all three games can be heard on KELO-AM 1320, www.keloam.com or watch on Fasthockey.com.

Stampede earn weekend sweep in Michigan

The Stampede extended their winning streak to three games with two wins over the weekend. On Friday, the Stampede topped the U.S. Under-17 squad 4-1 and on Saturday, Sioux Falls topped Muskegon 4-3 in overtime. They are now 5-1-0 on their current nine-game road trip.

The Stampede have won 15 of their last 17 games overall and have a four point lead over Fargo for first place in the West. They trail Dubuque by four points for the best record overall in the league.

Registration open for Wiener Dog Races on February 16th

The 6th annual Sioux Nation Pet Clinic "Wiener Dog Races" are set for Saturday, Feb. 16. This is an event that you won't want to miss as 40 wiener dogs will compete for the championship on arena ice in between the first and second periods.

Sign up for Stampede bus trips

The Stampede are taking registrations until Thursday at 5 PM for a second bus to the Sioux City game this Saturday! The first bus is full and we need 30 more people to fill the second bus!

There is still time to sign up for the trip to Omaha on February 23rd. We are just 12 people away from filling the bus! The cost is just $35 and that includes your ticket to the game!

Stampede return home next weekend!

After a nine-game road swing, the Herd will finally return home to the Sioux Falls Arena next Friday, February 8th when they host the Waterloo Black Hawks at 7:05 PM. Tickets are available through the Sioux Falls Arena Box Office or any Ticketmaster location.

Hartzell/Quinnipiac #1 in college hockey

Former Stampede goaltender Eric Hartzell and the Quinnipiac Bobcats continue their impressive run. Quinnipiac is ranked #1 in the pairwise rankings which mimics the process the NCAA selection committee uses to select teams for the NCAA tournament.

They are ranked #2 in the country in the latest USCHO. com poll.

Vanek off to hot start with Sabres

Former Stampede star Thomas Vanek is off to a hot start with the Buffalo Sabres. In just four games, Vanek has registered 9 points (3g, 6a). He recorded five points (2g, 3a) on opening night alone.

He missed the Sabres game on Sunday with a muscle strain and is currently listed as day-to-day. The Sabres are 2-3-0 to start the season.
