The Solar Bears continue on the road tonight, playing their fifth-straight game aw ay from the Amway Center. Orlando is coming off a 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Cincinnati Cyclones on Wednesday, and looks to rebound against a Road Warriors team that has struggled of late, going 1-2-1-0 in their last four games. The Solar Bears and Road Warriors have faced each other twice this season with both games needing more than 60 minutes to determine the winner. The first matchup, at the Amway Center, saw Greenville come back from a 4-2 third period deficit to eventually take a 6-5 shootout win over Orlando. The Solar Bears returned the favor in Greenville, striking in the final minute of play to tie the contest at 3-3 before LW Nick Petersen netted an overtime goal to give Orlando a 4-3 win.
Solar Bears Notes:
The Solar Bears have scored nine goals in two games against Greenville... G John Curry is third in the ECHL with 668 saves... The Solar Bears have gone past regulation 10 times this season, tying them for second most in the ECHL... The Solar Bears face a South Division opponent for the first time in four games, and are 9-7-2-1 against the South this season... Orlando announced last week that the Solar Bears will inform the League at the League mid-season meetings of their intentions to place a bid to host the 2015 All-Star Game. The meetings will be held in Loveland, Colorado, during the All-Star break later this month... LW Nick Petersen was named to the ECHL All-Star Team last week, making him the first Solar Bear to be selected as an ECHL All-Star... D Sean Lorenz remains on reserve... F Ryan Ginand and LW Chris Lawrence are currently on the 21-day IR, both have resumed skating but neither player made the trip... D Corbin Baldwin is currently on the 21-day IR... G Mike Brodeur remains on the 21-day IR but has resumed skating drills... D Josh Caron, D Kyle Medvec, F Rob Mignardi, and LW Nick Petersen are currently recalled to the Houston Aeros... F Olivier Fortier is currently recalled to the Hamilton Bulldogs... D Michael Wilson is currently in the AHL with the Worcester Sharks.
Road Warriors Notes:
F Brandon Wong is tied for sixth in the ECHL with 40 points... D Steven Deslisle is second in the league with a +20 plus/minus rating... D T.J. Reynolds is fourth among ECHL defensemen with 25 minor penalties... The Road Warriors lead the league with 50 third-period goals... Greenville is 21st on the power play at 13.9 percent (22-for-158) and 20th on the penalty kill at 76.2 percent (125-for-164)... F Brandon Wong leads the Road Warriors with 17 goals and 40 points... F Marc-Olivier Vallerand leads the team with 24 assists.
