LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

vs. Worcester (12/31): The Manchester Monarchs rallied from a two-goal deficit but fell in their annual New Year's Eve Celebration game to the Worcester Sharks, 3-2, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Monday night. The Monarchs received goals from defenseman Thomas Hickey and right wing Brandon Kozun. The Sharks scored goals off the sticks of center Freddie Hamilton, center Jon Matsumoto and left wing John McCarthy. Monarchs goaltender Peter Mannino (7-4-0) took his fourth loss of the season stopping 15-of-18 shots. Sharks netminder Harri Sateri (6-6-1) earned his sixth victory of the season making 35 saves on 37 shots. Manchester went 1-for-5 on the power play. Worcester was 1-for-4 with the man advantage.

@ St. John's (1/4): Center Andrei Loktionov scored the game-winning goal and the Manchester Monarchs opened 2013 with a 3-2 victory over the St. John's IceCaps at the Mile One Centre on Friday night. Manchester also got two goals from right wing Tyler Toffoli. Right wing Spencer Machacek and right wing Raymond Sawada registered goals for the IceCaps. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (8-13-2) earned his eighth victory of the season stopping 32-of-34 shots. IceCaps netminder Eddie Pasquale (8-13-1) took his 13th loss of the season making 26 saves on 29 shots. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. St. John's was 0-for-5 with the man advantage.

@ St. John's (1/5): The Manchester Monarchs remain undefeated in 2013 with a 3-2 overtime victory against the St. John's IceCaps at the Mile One Centre on Saturday night. Left wing Tanner Pearson, defenseman Slava Voynov and center Jordan Weal scored goals for Manchester. Left wing Carl Klingberg tallied both goals for St. John's. Monarchs goaltender Peter Mannino (8-4-0) earned his eighth victory of the season stopping 25-of-27 shots. IceCaps Mark Dekanich (7-7-0) took his seventh loss of the season making 29 saves on 32 shots. Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. St. John's was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES

The Portland Pirates (20-12-1-1) sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 42 points. The Worcester Sharks (18-12-1-2) are in second place in the division with 39 points. The Providence Bruins (17-13-0-2) are tied with the Manchester Monarchs (16-15-2-2) for third place in division with 36 points each. The St. John's IceCaps (15-19-1-1) sit in fifth place in the division with 32 points.

The Monarchs are 8-6-0-1 on the road and are 8-9-2-1 at home this season.

Manchester is 10-2-0-0 overall when they play on a Saturday this season.

The Monarchs are 6-4-2-0 all-time in games on New Year's Eve.

Manchester scored three power play goals in a game for the third time this season in a 5-3 victory against the Pirates on Saturday, December 22.

The Monarchs have the second highest success rate in the American Hockey League when faced with a penalty kill on the road (88.7%).

Manchester is 2-0-0-0 to begin the new calendar year. Center Linden Vey (8-19') leads the team with 19 assists and 27 points.

Vey appeared in his 100th AHL game (all with the Monarchs) on Saturday, December 15 against the Adirondack Phantoms.

Vey is currently on a five-game point streak (0-6=6) and has eight points (1-7=8) in his last seven games.

Right wing Tyler Toffoli (16-10&) is second on the team with 26 points.

Toffoli tallied his second hat trick of the season and second against the Pirates in a 5-3 victory on Saturday, December 22.

Toffoli has eight goals in six games against the Pirates this season, which also leads all VIP Cup skaters.

Toffoli leads the team and ranks second in the AHL among rookies with 16 goals this season.

Toffoli's 16 goals are also tied for seventh among league skaters. Toffoli's 26 points are tied for seventh in the league among rookie skaters.

Toffoli leads the team with five power play goals this season.

Toffoli leads the team in plus/minus with plus-10.

Toffoli has three goals and an assist for four points in his last four games.

Right wing Brandon Kozun (9-14=23) ranks third on the team with 23 points.

Kozun is in third place on the team with 14 assists.

Kozun is second on the team with nine goals this season.

Kozun leads the team with three game-winning goals this season, which is tied for 13th place in the AHL.

Kozun tallied the game-winning goals against the Sharks on Saturday, October 27, against the Binghamton Senators on Sunday, October 28 and the IceCaps on Wednesday, November 7.

Left wing Tanner Pearson (7-15=22) ranks fourth on the Monarchs with 22 points.

Pearson is third on the Monarchs with 15 assists. Pearson is on a three-game point streak (1-3=4).

Center Andrei Loktionov (6-12=18) is in fifth place on the Monarchs with 18 points.

Loktionov leads the team and is tied for third in the AHL with two shorthanded goals this season.

Left wing Dwight King (5-12=17) ranks sixth on the Monarchs with 17 points.

King is tied for the league lead with two shorthanded assists this season.

Defenseman Slava Voynov (7-9=16) ranks seventh on the Monarchs with 16 points each.

Voynov's seven goals lead team defensemen.

Voynov leads the team with 106 shots on goal this season.

Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (3-9=12) is in eighth place on the Monarchs with 12 points.

Bodnarchuk is tied with Voynov and defenseman Jake Muzzin (2-9=11) for the team lead amongst blueliners with nine assists each.

Muzzin, left wing Marc-Andre Cliche (5-6=11) and defenseman Thomas Hickey (3-8=11) are tied for ninth place on the Monarchs with 11 points each.

Cliche ranks second on the Monarchs all-time games played list with 318.

Cliche has scored 63 goals in his career with the Monarchs which tie him for eighth place on the franchise's all-time list with center Yanick Lehoux.

Cliche ranks ninth on the Monarchs all-time points list with 142 and ranks 10th on the franchise's all-time assist list with 79.

Right wing Stefan Legein (2-8=10) ranks 12th on the Monarchs with 10 points.

Defenseman Nick Deslauriers (2-7=9) ranks 13th on the Monarchs with nine points.

Left wing Richard Clune (2-5=7) is in 14th place on the Monarchs with seven points.

Clune leads the team with 96 penalty minutes.

Clune's 784 penalty minutes rank second on the Monarchs all-time career penalty minutes list.

Defenseman David Kolomatis (3-3=6) is tied with center Andy Andreoff (4-2=6) and left wing Jordan Nolan (2-4=6) for 15th place on the Monarchs with six points each.

All three of Kolomatis' goals this season have come when the team was on a power play.

Kolomatis returned to the Monarchs line-up on Friday, December 28 after missing 23 games due to injury.

Defenseman Bryan Rodney (2-2=4), center Jordan Weal (2-2=4) and defenseman Andrew Campbell (0-4=4) are tied for 18th place on the Monarchs with four points each.

Campbell returned from an upper body injury on Friday, December 7 in Providence. Campbell had been out of the line-up since Sunday, October 28 missing 16 games.

Campbell's 315 games rank third all-time on the Monarchs all-time games played list.

Right wing Brian O'Neill (1-2=3) is in 21st place on the Monarchs with three points.

Center Robbie Czarnik (2-0=2) ranks 22nd on the Monarchs with two points.

Left wing David Meckler (0-1=1) assisted on Voynov's overtime goal against the IceCaps on Saturday, January 5.

Meckler holds the franchise record for games played with 356 in a Monarchs uniform. Meckler's 350th game came against the Pirates on Sunday, November 25.

Right wing Justin Johnson (0-0=0) made his season debut against the Bruins on Friday, November 16. Goaltender Martin Jones (8-13-2) has a 2.61 goals-against-average, a 0.912 save percentage and has stopped 615-of-674 shots attempted in 23 games this season.

Jones' 615 saves this season are ranked 12th among league netminders.

Jones appeared in his 100th game in a Monarchs uniform in a 3-2 shootout loss against the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, December 16.

Goaltender Peter Mannino (8-4-0) has a 2.08 goal-against-average and a 0.927 save percentage in 14 games this season.
