"Hit the Books" Reading Program Open to Schools for 2013

ROSEMONT, Ill. - The Chicago Bandits have announced the "Hit the Books" program, a reading incentive program for Chicagoland schools that is now open for the remaining 2012-13 academic year.

Last year over 2,000 bookmarks were distributed to schools and youth throughout the Chicagoland area.

The 2013 "Hit the Books" reading program tracks a student's reading progress around the bases of a softball diamond with home plate representing a "home run". Students who complete the reading requirements and "hit a home run" will earn two free tickets to a Chicago Bandits game for the 2013 season.

Students, along with the help of their teacher, will track their reading progress on their special Chicago Bandits bookmark. Once each base is completed, teachers verify that their students have obtained a "home run" and tear off the bottom portion of the bookmark and return to the Bandits offices by Tuesday, April 30.

In addition, the top five schools who have the largest number of students return "home run" bookmarks will receive a visit from a Chicago Bandits player and mascot, Outlaw.

Teachers interested in registering for the "Hit the Books" reading program can download the registration form here and return it to the Chicago Bandits office at 27 Jennie Finch Way, ATTN: Hit the Books, Rosemont, IL 60018.
