ST. JOHN'S, NL - The Manchester Monarchs remain undefeated in 2013 with a 3-2 overtime victory against the St. John's IceCaps at the Mile One Centre on Saturday night.

Manchester (16-15-2-2) is tied with the Providence Bruins (17-12-0-2) for third place in the Atlantic Division with 36 points each. The IceCaps (15-19-1-1) are in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 32 points.

"The overtime winner coupled with last night's win add up to a four-point weekend," said Monarchs Head Coach Mark Morris. "Surely, we have made some strides in the right direction. We will grow from this road trip and look to build on the momentum we were able to muster. Seeing the team celebrate on the ice and in the locker room is a welcome sight."

Defenseman Slava Voynov scored 3:01 into overtime to give Manchester the 3-2 victory. Monarchs left wing David Meckler skated down the right wing and to the bottom of the right wing face-off circle before feeding Voynov in the slot. Voynov finished it off by scoring his seventh goal of the season.

Manchester opened the scoring at 3:42 of the first period with a goal by center Jordan Weal. Left wing Jordan Nolan gained the IceCaps zone along the left wing boards and skated in toward the net on an odd man rush. Nolan skated to the slot before attempting a cross-ice pass that an IceCaps defenseman deflected back toward the left wing face-off circle. Weal picked up the loose puck and quickly wristed a shot high on the glove side of IceCaps goaltender Mark Dekanich for his second goal of the season.

The IceCaps tied the game at 1-1 with a goal by left wing Carl Klingberg at 11:37 of the second period. Defenseman Ben Chiarot fed left wing Ivan Telegin as the IceCaps broke out of their defensive zone. Telegin skated to center ice along the boards before firing a pass to Klingberg between the retreating Monarchs defensemen entering Manchester's zone. Klingberg tipped the pass through a defenseman's legs and skated around him breaking in on Monarchs goaltender Peter Mannino. Klingberg released a wrist shot just over Mannino's right pad for his sixth goal of the season.

The Monarchs took their second lead of the game with a goal by left wing Tanner Pearson at 2:29 of the third period. Center Linden Vey carried the puck off the right wing half wall and around the bottom of the right wing face-off circle before finding Pearson with a hard centering pass. Pearson, standing in front of the net, redirected the pass and into the net for the goal. Pearson's seventh goal of the season brought the score to 2-1 and was also assisted by right wing Tyler Toffoli.

Klingberg scored his second goal of the game for the IceCaps at 9:27 of the final frame to tie the game at 2-2. Defenseman Paul Postma took a feed from center Eric O'Dell at the left point. Postma wristed a shot that Mannino denied but it produced a rebound in front of the net. Klingberg banged in the loose puck from the slot beating Mannino for his seventh goal of the season.

Mannino (8-4-0) earned his eighth victory of the season stopping 25-of-27 shots. Dekanich (7-7-0) took his seventh loss of the season making 29 saves on 32 shots.

Manchester went 0-for-2 on the power play. St. John's was 0-for-3 with the man advantage.
