Lancers Lose Fourth Straight, Fall to 5-8

(Baltimore, MD)... The Rochester Lancers dropped their fourth straight game on Saturday night, losing to the Baltimore Blast 23-12. The loss dropped the Lancers to 5-8 on the season. Rochester will face Baltimore again tomorrow night, Saturday, January 5 beginning at 7:35 PM. It will mark the third time in five days that the two sides have faced each other.

Baltimore's Max Ferdinand was the hero of Friday night as he recorded a hat trick to lead the Blast to a 23-12 victory over Rochester. 

Ferdinand scored his first goal in the fifth minute of play to give the Blast an early 2-0 lead before Mauricio Salles tied the game and Jeremy Ortiz scored to give the Lancers a 4-2 late in the quarter.

Baltimore's Mike Lookingland scored early in the second quarter to tie the game and Ferdinand scored his second goal of the night to put the Blast back on top, 6-4.  Blast rookie Lucas Roque, who scored two goals Tuesday in Rochester, continued his string play for Baltimore adding a goal to increase the Blast lead to 8-4 before halftime.

The Lancers looked to gain some momentum to kickoff the second half and came out fast in the third quarter, scoring two goals to tie the game at 8-8. Rochester's Elliot Fauske scored in the third minute to cut the Blast lead to 8-6 while Salles recorded his second goal of the game a minute later to tie it up. Roque's second goal of the game started a Baltimore four-goal run to end the quarter and give the Blast a 17-8 lead.  Baltimore's Machel Millwood, tallied two goals of his own in the last five minutes of the period while Lucio Gonzaga added a goal from beyond the arc.

Alan McGreal scored for the Lancers to cut the Blast lead to 17-10 in the final quarter, however Ferdinand completed his hat trick to give the Blast a 19-10. Rochester's Rey Martinez cut the score to 19-12 before Baltimore closed out the scoring making the final 23-12.
