Allen Americans Stay #1 on Sher-Wood Coaches Poll
January 4, 2013 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release
GLENDALE, AZ (January 4, 2013) - The Allen Americans (21-5-2, 44 points) have a slight lead in the Berry Conference standings leading the second place Wichita Thunder (20-10-3, 43 points) by just one point but in the latest Sher-Wood Coaches Poll, the Americans have widened the gap by two points in their claim on the #1 spot.
The poll will be released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn 9 points, etc.
The Americans received all nine possible first place votes (teams are not able to vote for themselves) with the third place Denver Cutthroats (18-11-3) receiving the other first place nod.
Positions four through six are the only slots that had movement as the Missouri Mavericks (16-11-4) jumped two spots to #4, the Rapid City Rush (15-12-5) fell one spot to #5 and the Bloomington Blaze (16-13-1) fell one spot to #6.
Rounding out the top 10 and remaining in the same slot as the previous poll are the Fort Worth Brahmas (15-12-4), the Quad City Mallards (13-15-3), the Arizona Sundogs (13-15-4) and the Tulsa Oilers (9-20-3).
