Peoria Rivermen News Release
Peoria Rivermen General Manager Kevin McDonald announced today that the St. Louis Blues have reassigned forward Jay Barriball to the Bloomington Blaze of the Central Hockey League. He is expected to make his CHL debut when the Blaze host Arizona on Friday night.
Barriball, 25, has not played since he was injured on Oct. 12, 2012 in the first game of the season with the Rivermen. Last season, injuries limited the Burnsville, MN native to just 21 games in which he registered 13 points (four goals, nine assists) and 14 penalty minutes.
Originally selected by the San Jose Sharks in the seventh round (#203 overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, he was acquired by the St. Louis Blues on Feb. 27, 2007 with Ville Nieminen and a first-round pick for Bill Guerin.
A standout at the University of Minnesota, Barriball became the 78th player in school history to reach 100 career points in October of 2009. He ranked fourth in the nation in freshman scoring during the 2006-07 season with 43 points (20g, 23a) in 44 games.
