Sellout Crowd Witnesses Rush Cap off 2012 with Shootout Win

(Rapid City, SD) - The Rapid City Rush and the Denver Cutthroats met for the fourth time in a one week span on Monday night in front of a sellout crowd. The Rush claimed a 3-2 shootout victory led by Jordan Baker's two-point night and 33 saves by Danny Battochio. The Rush hit the road for the next weekend taking on the Fort Worth Brahmas on Friday and Allen Americans on Saturday. Tune into 100.3 the FOX or online at foxradio.com for live coverage.

Jared Brown would be the first to light the lamp notching the fifteenth opening goal scored by the Rush this season off an assist from Jordan Baker. With only 41 seconds to go in the first frame, A.J. Gale, leading goal scorer for the Cutthroats, would notch his nineteenth goal of the season, evening up the scoreboard by the first intermission.

Jordan Baker reclaimed the lead for the Rush dancing around defenders with precise puck control to backhand a top shelf goal at the 7:52 mark of the second. The Cutthroats tallied a late goal by Troy Schwab, who after circling the net, backhanded in the equalizer to knot the game 2-2.

After a scoreless third frame and overtime period, the Rush and the Cutthroats headed to their fifth shootout in twelve games. The Rush would be lead to a 3-2 victory, outscoring the Cutthroats 4-2 in the shootout with goals by Jared Brown, Jesse Shultz, Jeff Lee, and the clinching goal by Rusty Masters.
