December 29, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

The Niagara IceDogs fell 7-3 to the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds in Sault Ste Marie in the second game of their two game northern roadtrip.

The first period saw Sault Ste. Marie open the scoring, but the IceDogs would answer right back as Anthony DiFrusica would score to make it 1-1 5:16 in. Unfortunately Sault Ste. Marie would continue the scoring striking three more times before the end of the period to send the IceDogs into the intermission down 4-1. Shots after one were 14-8 in favour of Sault Ste. Marie.

The second period would see the scoring slow down for much of the period as things were scoreless for the first 14:10 of the frame. Unfortunately for the IceDogs, Sault Ste. Marie would score three times in the final 5:50 of the period to make it 7-1 after two. Shots after 40 minutes were 35-17 for Sault Ste. Marie.

Bo Bessette would take over in goal for the third period, making his IceDogs debut. Despite the big deficit, the IceDogs would not let up, as Ondrej Kopta would score at the 12:11 mark of the third to make it 7-2. They would not stop there either as Carter Verhaeghe would score just over two minutes later to make it 7-3. The IceDogs would continue to press for the remainder of the period, but that would prove to be as close as they would get as they fell by a final score of 7-3. Final shots were 47-27 in favour of Sault Ste. Marie.

The IceDogs will now return to St. Catharines, before playing host to the visiting Erie Otters on Monday in their annual New Year's Eve game. Single seats and standing room still remain for Monday's game and can be purchased at all IceDogs ticketing locations.
