Petersen Heads Back to AHL Affiliate:

LW Nick Petersen was recalled by the Houston Aeros prior to last night's game, after being assigned to the Solar Bears earlier in the day. He scored two points (1 goal, 1 assist) in the 5-1 Orlando win on December 19 before being recalled by Houston on December 22. He currently leads the Solar Bears in goals (12) and points (26) in 22 games. He has appeared in three games with Houston this season.

Matchup:

The Solar Bears and Everblades come together for the final game of a five-game set that started on December 19. Orlando won the first game 5-1, lost by a 6-2 score the following game, and then saw C Ryan Cruthers strike in overtime to lift them to a 2-1 win on December 21. The Solar Bears picked up their second straight win last night, another 2-1 win over the Everblades in their return to the Amway Center. A shorthanded goal by RW Dan Gendur midway through the second period was followed up by a strike from F Scott Tanski to give Orlando a 2-0 lead heading into the final stanza. Despite a goal 8:08 into the third by the Everblades, the Solar Bears were able to hold off Florida to take the 2-1 victory.

Solar Bears Notes:

The Solar Bears had 7,868 fans in attendance last night, their second largest crowd of the season. Their largest crowd was a sellout of 9,555 for their Opening Night game on October 20... G John Curry has held the Everblades to just one goal in each of his last three starts against them... The Solar Bears improved their record against the Everblades to 5-2-1-0 on the season... Orlando led 2-0 at the end of the second frame, and are now 9-0-0-1 when leading after two periods... D Sean Lorenz remains on reserve... F Ryan Ginand and LW Chris Lawrence are currently on the 21-day IR, but both have resumed skating... D Corbin Baldwin is currently on the 21-day IR... G Mike Brodeur remains on the 21-day IR but has resumed skating drills... D Kyle Medvec, F Rob Mignardi, and LW Nick Petersen are currently recalled to the Houston Aeros... F Olivier Fortier is currently recalled to the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Florida Notes:

D Bobby Raymond is tied for third among all ECHL defensemen with eight goals... Florida is tied for fourth with six shorthanded goals... The Everblades are second in the Eastern Conference with 109 goals scored... C David Rutherford leads Florida against Orlando with 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in eight games... Florida is ninth on the power play at 20.0 percent (29-for-145) and 17th on the penalty kill at 80.0 percent (104-for-130).

Nap For Community School Book Drive:

Fans are encouraged to donate school-aged appropriate books as they enter the arena tonight. Donation stations will be located in the Disney Atrium at the Church Street entrance as well as the entrance from the Geico Garage. The books will be donated to the Nap Ford Community School, and all fans who donate will be entered to win two glass seat tickets to a future Solar Bears game.

Orlando Unveils Third Jerseys:

The Solar Bears will unveil their much-anticipated third-jersey tonight. Players will wear the jerseys during tonight's game. Replica third jerseys will be available to purchase at the Amway Center and online at http://shop.orlandosolarbearshockey.com/ starting tonight.

Busy Night in Orlando:

Along with tonight's Solar Bears game, the Russell Athletic Bowl will also be taking place at the Citrus Bowl. Solar Bears fans are encouraged to leave early for the game tonight as increased traffic is expected near the Amway Center.
