 Hershey Bears

Nearly Perfect In Week 8

December 11, 2012 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hershey Bears News Release

The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club picked up four out of a possible six points last week, beginning with a 2-1 victory over the Norfolk Admirals in the Washington AHL Showcase held at Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. The BEARS surrendered the first goal of the game just 10 seconds into the contest, but Braden Holtby settled down to stop the remaining 26 shots sent his way. Evan Barlow scored his first goal with HERSHEY to tie the game, and Ryan Potulny netted his first of the season for the game-winner. The BEARS came right back with a gritty effort on Friday, coming back twice to dispatch the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-4 overtime decision. HERSHEY's fourth victory in five games against the Penguins was highlighted by two-point efforts from Mattias Sjogren, Mathieu Beaudoin, Zach Hamill and Jon DiSalvatore, and the first career HERSHEY goal for defenseman Kevin Marshall - the overtime winner. The BEARS started off Saturday's matchup against the Hamilton Bulldogs with leads of 1-0 and 2-1 courtesy of Ryan Potulny's two goals, but Joonas Nattinen's rebound goal late in the second period and Cedrick Desjardins' eight third-period saves helped the Bulldogs hold on for the win.

The BEARS have a heaping helping of Atlantic Division battles this week as they visit the St. John's IceCaps for a pair of games on Tuesday and Wednesday. The team returns home to face the Worcester Sharks on Saturday.
