Gladiators Score Three in Third Period, Knock off Road Warriors 5-2

Gwinnett, GA: The Road Warriors fell tonight by a 5-2 score after a strong third period from the Gwinnet Gladiators.
The Gladiators had a shooting spree in the first period taking 13 shots to Byran Hince while the Road Warriors only delivered three. Gwinnett began the scoring with a John Scrymgeour goal 6:26 into the game. He scored his first of the year with the assist going to Corey Fienhage. The Road Warriors would respond on the powerplay with a slap shot goal from Francis Verreault. Sebastien Piche and Scott Pitt collected the assists.
Greenville brought more offensive attack in the second period knocking 12 shot towards Louie Domingue. Gwinnett however, took the lead again with a goal from Rylan Galiardi who deflected a shot from the point for his eighth goal of the season. Kyle Lawson took the shot from the point receiving a pass from Chris Clackson; both were awarded assists on the play. The Road Warriors would eventually tie the game again as Brandon Wong scored his ninth of the season. Wong had a partial breakaway that was rejected by Domingue. The Gladiators were caught on a line change and just seconds later Wong had a clean breakaway beating the netminder five hole. Piche notched another assist, his second of the game.
Doug Jones scored 4:22 into the third period which was the first of three goals in the period for the Gladiators. Casey Pierro-Zabotel had a breakaway halfway through the period and was taken down by T.J. Reynolds which led to a penalty shot. Pierro-Zabotel scored on the penalty shot beating Hince blocker high for his eighth of the season. Even Bloodoff scored the fifth and final goal of the night a few moments later with assists going to Andy Brandy and Jason Clark. Hince was the losing goaltender stopping 35 of 40 shots. Domingue was victorious in net saving 23 of 25 shots.
The weekend games will conclude tomorrow as the Road Warriors host the South Carolina Stingrays at 4 p.m. The Road Warriors will don their third jerseys, featuring the colors and style of their NHL affiliate; the New York Rangers, for the second time this year.
