Red Deer Rebels News Release

MOOSE JAW, SK - The Red Deer Rebels kept the winning streak alive with a 2-1 win Friday in Moose Jaw. The Rebels needed a late goal from Matt Bellerive to pick up the win, their 9th in a row.

The Warriors got on the board first, Justin Kirsch scored at 4:50 of the first period on a breakaway. Both teams traded multiple opportunities to score in the opening period but both goaltenders, Daniel Wapple for Moose Jaw and Patrik Bartosak for Red Deer, were very good.

The second period was scoreless but again both teams had quality chances.

The Rebels finally solved Wapple at 4:42 of the third period, Tyson Ness scored his 10th of the season, Christian Stockl and Brady Gaudet had the assists. It looked like the game was destined for overtime, but Matt Bellerive, on his 18th birthday, scored with 10 second left in the game. Tyson Ness picking up an assist on the goal, his second point of the night. The Rebels outshot the Warriors 11-2 in the third period and 35-26 overall. The Rebels were 0 for 4 on the power play and killed all 3 shorthanded situations.

The Rebels continue their road trip Saturday in Brandon. The broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 6:20PM Mountain Time.
