Brampton Steelheads News Release
Mississauga, ON - The Mississauga Steelheads of the Ontario Hockey League are proud to join Canadian Tire, the Salvation Army, and the Peel Regional Police in support of the 20th Annual Toys for Tots campaign. Members of the Steelheads office staff along with Steelheads' mascot Sauga joined the Peel Regional Police early in November at Canadian Tire to help launch this year's campaign, and look forward to building more support for the initiative at an upcoming home game.
On December 16th, 2012 the Steelheads will host the Sudbury Wolves at the Hershey Centre, and members of the Peel Regional Police will be on hand to create awareness and raise funds for this year's Toys for Tots campaign. They will be accepting cash donations as well as new, unwrapped toys, with all proceeds and toys from the event going towards children in need this holiday season. Fans will also have the opportunity to support the cause and win great prizes by participating in the second intermission puck toss.
"The Steelheads are proud to support this year's Toys for Tots efforts," said Scott Rogers, Vice President of the Mississauga Steelheads. "We hope that the team and this hockey game will help bolster fundraising support and help make a happy holiday happen for children in our community."
Toys can be placed in the donation bins in the front foyer of the Hershey Centre, and representatives from Peel Regional Police will be available to accept Canadian Tire money, and cash donations.
Constable Karin Schroeter, Co-Chairperson for the campaign, and Peel Regional Police "are happy to have the support of The Mississauga Steelheads in an effort to collect new and unwrapped toys for underprivileged children in the Region of Peel for this Christmas Season. Last year, in partnership with the Salvation Army and Canadian Tire, we were able to put smiles on approximately 6,000 children's faces on Christmas morning. With the help of the Mississauga Steelheads fans, we hope to increase this number and make Christmas that much merrier. We are encouraging Mississauga Steelhead fans to bring a new, unwrapped toy to the game on December 16th in support of the Toys for Tots campaign."
Great tickets are still available at the Hershey Centre Box Office, and online through Ticketmaster. If you're looking to get together with family and friends this holiday season, the Steelheads are offering a Holiday Value Pack with over $50 of savings! Receive 4 red level tickets, 4 bottled drinks, 4 popcorn, and 4 souvenir programs for only $48.
