Alex Chiasson scored in the 10th round of the shootout to give the Texas Stars a 4-3 win against the Peoria Rivermen on Sunday evening at Carver Arena. Derek Nesbitt scored his second goal of the game, with just 3.4 seconds remaining, to tie the game and force overtime but Peoria was held to a single point despite outshooting the Stars 41-22.
The Rivermen got on the scoreboard first when Tyler Shattock scored his first goal of the season by pushing the puck through a scrum in front of the net at 15:05 in the first period. Mark Cundari and Anthony Nigro earned assists on the play after Cundari's shot bounced off the boards and into the crease for Shattock's goal.
The Rivermen doubled their lead at 17:40 in the first period on a power-play goal from Nesbitt. T.J. Hensick pushed a pass to the high slot and Nesbitt one-timed his second goal in as many nights. Hensick, who earned his 15th assist on the season, and Taylor Chorney was also credited with an assist.

Only 14 seconds later, Smith gave the Stars a 3-2 lead after skating past the Rivermen defense and snapping a shot above Allen's shoulder. Cody Eakin and Chiasson earned assists on the goal.
With 60 seconds remaining in the game, Brent Regner drew a tripping penalty from Smith. Peoria pulled Allen from the net, and Nesbitt scored his team-leading eighth of the season off a feed from Jaden Schwartz in the final seconds..
