Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - Podge Turnbull scored twice and also picked up an assist to lead the Missouri Mavericks to a 3-1 win over the host Quad City Mallards Saturday night.

After John-Scott Dickson finished off a 2-on-1 rush to break a scoreless deadlock at 11:02 of the second period, Turnbull provided what proved to be the game winner by firing the puck into a gaping Mallard net at the 14:09 mark of the second.

The Mallards responded to cut the gap to 2-1 when Mike Stinziani buried a wrist shot from the slot at 16:34 of the middle frame. However, after the Mallards failed to convert a series of power play opportunities early in the third period- including a lengthy 5-on-3 advantage- Turnbull 's superb solo rush provided the final margin at 15:14 of the third.

The Mallards return to action with another home game against the Mavericks Friday night at 7:05 p.m. Friday evening will also see the Mallards team with Family Resources for the Family Resources Teddy Bear Toss Presented by Mix 96 and WOC News Talk 1420. Fans are encouraged to bring new stuffed animals to the Friday's game and toss them onto the ice after the Mallards' first goal of that contest.
