Saginaw Spirit Fall to Sarnia Sting on the Road

The Saginaw Spirit took the ice in Sarnia on Friday night to battle the Sting at The RBC Centre. This was the first time the Spirit played at The RBC Centre since round one of the OHL playoffs last season.
There was no shortage of goals in the first period, as Nick Moutrey deflected in the first goal 27 seconds into the game with assists coming from Eric Locke and Brandon Prophet. Thirty-four seconds later Reid Boucher tied the score at one assisted by Captain Alex Galchenyuk and Assistant Captain Charles Sarault. Shortly after, Vince Trocheck redirected a shot from Dalton Young that gave the Spirit the 2-1 lead. Garret Ross then scored off a quick one timer from Dalton Young to put the Spirit ahead 3-1. To close the period, Reid Boucher just barely beat Jake Paterson on a power play goal assisted by Connor Murphy and Alex Basso. After twenty minutes of play, the Spirit led 3-2.
The second period did not see goals until less than ten minutes remained. Reid Boucher scored his hat trick goal assisted by Charles Sarault and Alex Galchenyuk to tie the score at three. Sarault then recorded his 4th point of the night scoring the go-ahead-goal with a solo assist by Davis Brown. With eleven seconds remaining in the second period, Brett Hargrave scored off a rebound from Alex Carnevale and Davis Brown.
The Sting took a 5-3 lead after 2 periods of play.
Three more goals were scored in the third period, the first coming off the stick of Vince Trocheck who beat JP Anderson glove side assisted by Garret Ross to put the Spirit behind only one goal 5-4. Alex Galchenyuk then restored Sarnia's two goal lead with assists going to Charles Sarault and Reid Boucher. On the penalty kill Sarault buried a goal into an empty Spirit net to end the game with a 7-4 score and a Sarnia Sting victory.
