Auger made sure he made the highlights early in the game with a great stop, spread-eagled across the line during the Sea Dogs early penalty kill.

The Sea Dogs were forced to play solid defence for much of the first, as the Drakkar outshot Saint John 11-2 in the first 12:25.

After making a great play to tip the puck out of the Sea Dogs zone, import Jakub Izacky chased his own tip and fired a hard shot right off the mask of Lemieux with nearly six minutes left in the opening frame.

The Sea Dogs drew first blood on the power play at 16:23. In a scrum in front, Durepos managed to squeeze the puck across the line off the initial shots by Huberdeau and Kevin Gagne.

The Sea Dogs pulled away in the second with another power play goal as Repe blasted a point shot past Lemieux for his second of the year just 39 seconds into the middle period.

The goal prompted a netminder change as Cadorette took over from Lemieux.

The Sea Dogs made it 3-0 as Tesink beat a sprawling Lemieux at 6:59 of the second. Huberdeau and MacAulay both had cracks at the goal before Tesink put it away on a rebound for his 15th goal of the season.

Cooper made it 4-0 with his fifth marker of the 2012-13 campaign. Huberdeau fired a shot on Cadorette, gathered his own rebound and fed the puck to Cooper whose centering pass deflected off a Baie-Comeau stick and past Cadorette at 18:29.

The Drakkar broke the shutout attempt at 4:42 of the third as Caron beat Auger on a rebound chance.

Izacky got the goal right back for the Sea Dogs, scoring his seventh of the year only 11 seconds later. David Weckworth tallied the only assist on the play.

The Darkkar made it a game in the second half of the third. They scored three goals in a 4:13 span to make it 5-4.

Caron scored his second of the game at 12:17 with the man advantage. Ranger beat Auger only 15 seconds later to make it 5-3, then at 16:30 Bussieres finished off the scoring with his 16th of the year.

Saint John hits the road again this week with two contests in northern Quebec. They visit the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies and Val d'Or Foreurs. Rouyn is up first Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The road trip continues Wednesday night for their stop against the Foreurs, also at 7 p.m. Tim Roszell will have the call for both games on News 88.9 FM and fans can also tune into the TELUS QMJHL Webcast .
