Surge Shut out IceGatorsNovember 23, 2012 - Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) - Louisiana IceGators
The IceGators will return to the ice next Friday night when they host the Pensacola Surge at 7:05 P. M. in the first game of a three-game series.
"Unacceptable," remarked IceGators Coach Kevin Kaminski after the game. "One game the whole weekend, and this is how we play? We got outplayed, outhit, and outskated. When you don't work for anything, that's what you get."
Corey Tamblyn scored the first goal nearly five minutes into the first period off of feeds from Lange and Nicholas Kuqali. Lange picked up another assist on the next goal--a Jeff Grant score three minutes into the second period. Six minutes later, Lange picked up a goal of his own off of assists from Kuqali and Payden Benning. The IceGators seemed to cut the Surge lead to 3-1 at the eight-minute mark of the second when Josh Duplantis took a shot from the slot. However, referee Joshua Greco ruled the puck did not cross the line and waved off the goal. Derek Graham capitalized on the momentum swing and added another goal for the Surge at the 14-minute mark of the frame.
Kaminski said he couldn't pinpoint why his team didn't perform to expectations. "I don't know if it's because of where we are (in the standings) and if we're complacent," he said. "We were lucky to earn a point last weekend." He continued, "With them stealing a win last weekend, we should have wanted the win tonight. There should have been desperation and urgency. They know that."
