November 23, 2012 - Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) Mississippi Surge

Dan Clarke turned away all 18 shots he faced for his first professional shutout, and four different players scored goals for the Mississippi Surge in a 4-0 win over the Louisiana IceGators Friday night at the Cajundome in Lafayette, Louisiana.

It was the second shutout of the season for the Surge, which has won four of its last five games. The Surge is also 3-0-1 on the road this season, the only team in the Southern Professional Hoockey League without a road loss in regulation time.

Last Sunday the Surge won 5-4 in in overtime in Lousiana after seeing leads of 3-0 and 4-1 slip away. On Friday, the Surge controlled play most of the night, outshoooting Louisiana 31-18.

Corey Tamblin opened the scoring in the first period. The Surge stretched its lead in the second period on goals by Jeff Grant, Tommy Lange, and Derek Graham. Lange also had two assists to go along with his goal. He now has six goals and seven assists for 13 points in 10 games and is second in the SPHL in scoring.

The loss is only the second regulation loss for Louisiana, which has its only overtime loss also at the hands of the Surge.

Mississippi's win was the first game of a six game road trip. The Surge will next play at Huntsville on November 29th. The next home game for the Surge is Friday December 14th.
