Previewing the Upcoming Week:

11/21 vs. Greenville - 7:05 p.m., Home vs. GRN 1-0-0, Away vs. GRN 0-0-0

Wednesday will be the final meeting of the season between the Jackals and the Road Warriors in Elmira. The Jackals grabbed a 7-1 home win over Greenville on October 13 thanks to a well-rounded offensive effort. Seven of Elmira's 16 skaters that night put up multi-point efforts and 12 of the 16 recorded at least one point. Since that game Greenville has gone 11-2-1 and enters the week trailing Gwinnett by two points for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Wednesday will mark the third ever regular season meeting between Elmira and Greenville and the Jackals are 2-0-0 against the Road Warriors in the prior two. Greenville is 6-5-0 on the road against Atlantic Division teams in its history.

11/23 & 11/24 vs. South Carolina - 7:05 p.m., Home vs. S.C. 0-0-0, Away vs. S.C. 1-0-0

South Carolina was the Jackals' best stop on its southern road trip earlier this month as they claimed a 4-2 win over the Stingrays. Now it's Elmira's turn to play host as the Stingrays make their only visit to First Arena this season. South Carolina enters play this week in fifth place in the South Division and one of four teams in the Eastern Conference with a sub-.500 record (7-11-1). The Jackals were 1-3-0 at home against the Stingrays last season and hold a 2-4-1 mark all time at home against South Carolina. The Stingrays are making their second trip outside of the South Division this week and are 2-3-0 on the road against non-South Division opponents.

Recapping Last Week:

11/14 at Reading: OTL 1-2

Elmira was looking to finish its six-game road trip on a high note last Wednesday when it visited Reading for the first time this season. The ball got rolling in the right direction thanks to Jordan Pietrus netting his third goal of the season 5:51 into the first period. Rookie Darren Kramer fed Pietrus the centering pass for the goal to pick up a point in his fourth straight game. Maxime Clermont made the start in goal and kept the Jackals ahead by one until a Jesse Todd wrist shot eluded him with 8:36 gone by in the second period. The third was tense throughout as neither team could score to take the lead. In the overtime session Ian O'Connor redirected a shot by Brett Flemming for the winning score. Clermont ended the night with 23 saves.

11/16 vs. Trenton: L 1-2

Back on home ice for the the first time since October 27, the Elmira Jackals were looking to get back to their winning ways in their first meeting of the season with the Trenton Titans. A combined 18 shots between the teams in the first period wasn't enough to dent the scoreboard as Elmira's Marc Cheverie stopped 12 and Trenton's Niko Hovinen thwarted six. In the second, the turning point came when Trenton's Kelsey Wilson picked up a five-minute major and a game misconduct for spearing. Elmira was unable to score on the ensuing power play, though, and with six seconds remaining on it Justin Taylor converted a shorthanded goal to put Trenton ahead 1-0. Stephen Schultz followed with an even strength score 4:50 later and that proved to be the winning goal. Jack Downing put Elmira on the board 8:19 into the third, but that was one of just three shots Elmira managed in the third. Cheverie shouldered the loss while making 29 saves.

11/17 vs. Trenton: W 5-1

The Jackals were wickedly efficient on the power play in Saturday's victory over Trenton. The Jackals scored on three of their first five power plays of the game to grab a 3-0 lead by the time the game was just over 22 minutes old. Louie Caporusso spiked home a rebound from Jean Bourbeau 2:09 into the first then was followed by Andrew Rowe and Kyle Bushee at :33 and 2:06 of the second period, respectively. Rob Bellamy scored Elmira's first even-strength goal of the game 10 minutes after Bushee's goal and Rowe tapped home a loose puck from the edge of the crease at 18:21 of the second to cap Elmira's scoring. Trenton's Andy Bombach broke up Maxime Clermont's shutout bid at 12:10 of the third, but Elmira put the clamps on the Titans' offense the rest of the way.

Quick Hits:

* Elmira has the best home penalty kill in the ECHL at 97 percent. The Jackals killed off 32 consecutive penalties to begin the season before Andy Bombach broke the streak on Saturday night with a 5-on-4 power play goal. The Jackals are best in the league on the penalty kill overall at 90 percent.

* Dustin Gazley reached 100 points in his ECHL career with his first of three assists last Saturday against Trenton. He now has 102 points to his credit and needs 25 more to pass Benoit Doucet for fourth most on the Jackals' all-time ECHL scoring list.

* Kyle Bushee is one point away from his 100th in the ECHL. He currently leads Jackals defensemen in goals (3) and is tied with Danny New for the lead in points (8). Bushee is tied for the league lead among defensemen with three power play goals.

* Elmira is the only team in the ECHL with two goalies in the top 15 in goals-against average. Marc Cheverie is 10th at 2.52 and Maxime Clermont is 12th at 2.58. The each held the Jackals' opponent to two goals or fewer in their starts last week.

* Entering this week the Jackals have played as many games against the South Division (6) as they have against their own division, the Atlantic. They are 2-4-0 against the South overall but 1-0-0 at home. After Saturday's game against South Carolina the Jackals have five remaining (two home and three away) against South Division teams.
