ICE-CAPSules

New Line Turning Up the Heat: The newly-formed trio of youngsters Ivan Telegin, Eric O'Dell and Carl Klingberg has provided the IceCaps with a spark offensively over the last three games. O'Dell has four points (1G, 3 ) and a +3 rating during a three-game point streak, while Klingberg has also picked up a point in three straight (1G, 2A) to go along with a +3 rating. Telegin has recorded a point in two consecutive games and has a +4 rating in his last three contests.

O'Neill Lending a Hand D Will O'Neill, who has been in and out of the lineup recently, has played some of his best hockey the last two games. After being scratched in four-of-five games on the most recent road trip, O'Neill has responded with an assist in two straight contests and nearly had another helper when he sent Kevin Clark in alone with a beautiful stretch pass in Friday night's 4-3 shootout victory vs. Albany.

Shots Record Broken: On Saturday the IceCaps set one shots record and came close to setting another. The club fired 22 shots on Devils netminder Jeff Frazee in the third period of Saturday's contest, breaking its previous mark of 21 set back on Mar. 4 at Binghamton, when it launched 21 shots on Ben Bishop in the second period of a 5-2 win against the Senators. The team also notched 45 shots in total, coming just three shy of its record of 48, which was achieved twice, most recently on Apr. 3 in a 5-2 win over the Portland Pirates at Mile One.

Drought Continues: St. John's went a combined 0-for-11 this weekend on the power play, including an 0-for-8 performance on Saturday. The club has recorded just two power play goals in its last 56 opportunities, dropping to 26th overall in the league in efficiency (9.9%).

Tale of Two Stats: telling stat thus far has been the club's record when scoring first versus allowing the opening goal. In seven games during which the IceCaps have lit the lamp first, the team is 5-2-0-0. In the other eight contests, St. John's is just 2-6-0-0 when the opposition gets on the board first.

Time Change: This Sunday's game at Mile One Centre against the Providence Bruins has been changed from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The change was announced several weeks ago and was necessary to avoid conflict with Downtown Santa Claus Parade, which will see upwards of 60,000 people crowd the downtown area surrounding Mile One Centre during the afternoon.
