Revs Named Finalist for MLS Xbox Fair Play

November 15, 2012 - Major League Soccer (MLS) - New England Revolution News Release

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution is one of three Major League Soccer teams chosen as finalists for the 2012 Xbox Team Fair Play Award. Joining the Revs are the Houston Dynamo and the Chicago Fire. The Xbox Team Fair Play Award will be announced on Monday, November 19.

The fair play award finalists "" both team and individual player awards "" were chosen based on objective criteria, including fewest fouls committed and cards received, and a subjective evaluation of sportsman-like behavior.

In 2012, the Revolution committed 360 fouls, the second-lowest total the league. The team's 40 cautions was the league's third-lowest total, while the team's two red cards (a third was later rescinded), is tied for the second-lowest total in MLS. Additionally, no Revolution player served a caution accumulation suspension in 2012.

The Revs have won the MLS Fair Play Award twice before (2003, 2008), while two Revs players "" Michael Parkhust (2007, 2008) and Steve Ralston (2009) "" have won the individual award. Ralston (2006) and Darrius Barnes (2011) were also previously finalists for the individual award.
