Brandon Wheat Kings News Release
Brandon, MB. -- Applebee's Restaurant and the Brandon Wheat Kings are teaming up to host a special event next week in an effort to help the Canadian Hockey League's Movember Campaign.
The Western Hockey League club has announced plans for the 1st Annual "Wheat Kings Men of Movember" at Brandon's Applebee's, located across from the Keystone Centre on 18th Street.
Several Wheat Kings, including Captain Ryan Pulock will be visiting Applebees on Wednesday, November 21st and between the hours of 5 and 7pm, they will be serving drinks and meals, signing autographs and selling raffle tickets on some great Wheat Kings' souvenir merchandise.
Western Manitoba hockey fans are encouraged to visit Applebees next Wednesday, meet the players, make a donation to the CHL's Movember Campaign and help choose the Wheat King with the best moustache. The winner will be determined by a Fan Vote on November 30th.
As well, Applebees has promised to include a number of Wheat Kings' Specials on the menu for this special event.
Joining Pulock at Applebees will be Nick Buonassisi, Colton Waltz, Tyrel Seaman and the club's leading scorer - Swiss left-winger Alessio Bertaggia.
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men's faces in Canada and around the world. The annual month-long moustache growing and appreciation charity event helps raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer.
For the second straight year the CHL invites all member clubs to participate in this event with many teams already signed up and planning unique initiatives in their local markets. Players will be registered with their clubs under the CHL platform on movember.com and raise sponsorship dollars by growing and grooming their moustache and encouraging monetary donations through family, friends, fans, and local sponsors.
Each player on their team will be ranked and each team as a collective will be ranked throughout the CHL. Teams will be competing for the top spot in fundraising dollars and the winner will be presented with a special Movember trophy.
Visit www.movember.com and search Canadian Hockey League and find your favourite team under the Network Leaderboard on the right hand side of the screen.
The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and men's health partner, Prostate Cancer Canada. Together the two channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with strategic goals in the areas of awareness, education, survivorship, prostate cancer research, male mental health, and influencing change in men's health.
