Storm Acquires Goaltender from 67's

November 12, 2012 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Guelph Storm News Release

Guelph Storm General Manager Mike Kelly announced today that the Storm have acquired overage goaltender Keegan Wilson from the Ottawa 67's in exchange for a 7th round pick (originally Saginaw's) in the 2013 OHL Priority Selection.

Originally, drafted by Brampton as a 19 year old in 2011, Wilson spent last season with the Battalion and ranked 7th in the OHL with a 2.82 goals against average. The Mississauga native was traded to the Ottawa this summer and has played 15 games this season and has a record of 4-7-0-2.

"I have seen Keegan play some exceptional games during his OHL career." Said Storm He comes to us with a reputation as being not only a very good goalie, but also a strong character/ leader type player. With the strong possibility of Garret Sparkes joining the USA under 20 team for the World Junior championships, we felt that adding an experienced goalie to our roster was the best decision. This decision will allow our young goalie prospects, particularly Jason Da Silva, to develop a little more slowly, without the pressure of being a number one goalie at age 16 or 17." stated Storm General Manager Mike Kelly.

The Mississauga native will join the rest of the Storm for practice on Tuesday at the Sleeman Centre.
