Dallas Stars Reassign Austin Smith to Texas

CEDAR PARK, TX - The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that Dallas has reassigned right wing Austin Smith to Texas from the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL.

Smith, who turned 24 on Wednesday, was reassigned to Idaho on October 23rd and tallied five points (3 goals, 2 assists) in six games for the Steelheads. The Dallas, Texas native scored his first pro goal during his ECHL debut with Idaho on October 24th against the Ontario Reign. During his time in Boise he scored one shorthanded goal and had a +3 plus-minus rating, helping to lead the Steelheads into first place in the Western Conference. Smith has appeared in one AHL game for the Stars this season, making his 2012-13 Texas debut on October 19th at Houston.

The Texas Stars return to action on Saturday, November 10th for the conclusion of Stars & Stripes Military Appreciation Weekend presented by Sport Clips as the team hosts the Lake Erie Monsters at 7:00 p.m. at Cedar Park Center; Saturday also Stars & Stripes Military Hat Giveaway night.
