Chicago Bandits News Release

ROSEMONT - The Chicago Bandits announced today that they will host five dates of Friday Night Lights games this upcoming spring in games that will feature some of the best high school competition throughout Illinois.

Beginning with two games on Friday, March 29 and continuing until the start of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) playoffs in late May the Bandits will provide this unique opportunity for up to as many as four teams a night to play under the lights at The Ballpark at Rosemont.

In addition to March 29, Friday Night Lights games will be hosted on April 12, May 3, May 10 and May 17.

"Last season was a huge success for the Friday Night Lights opportunity and we're really looking forward to hosting more games this season in Rosemont," stated Bandits GM Aaron M. Moore. "The two games we had last year featured three of the top teams in the entire state and the rosters were filled with players now making their mark on the college level.

"Giving these young women an opportunity to play in Rosemont is exciting, not only for the Bandits, but also for the players themselves."

Teams from all four classes of play (1A-4A) will have the chance to submit a registration form to the Bandits for the chance to play under the lights. If selected to play, each participating team will be required to pay a $300 straight fee to the Bandits or will be able to pay their fee and raise some money for their program via a ticket fundraiser.

The fee of the game includes the PA Announcer, walk-up music, use of the scoreboard and videoboard, live audio streaming of the game and a press release after the game which will be sent out to local media members.

Possible games on the schedule for the 2013 season include Marengo vs. Montini Catholic and a rematch from last season with Marengo taking on Glenbard South High School.

"To have an opportunity to play in a National Pro Fastpitch stadium is a high school players dream," said Marengo Head Coach Dwain Nance. "The atmosphere and playing surface is terrific and we're able to face some fierce competition in a unique environment.

"Our program enjoyed the experience last year and we were hoping to have another opportunity to play there again this year."

Any high school team is eligible, but they must be able to move a previously scheduled game from their schedule to the stadium. The originally scheduled home team will also be responsible for the payment of game officials.

The Ballpark at Rosemont opened in June 2011 and more than 50,000 fans have made their way through the gates for various events. In December 2011, The Ballpark at Rosemont was named the host of the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) Championship Series for both the 2012 and 2013 seasons.
