Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release

GRAND CHUTE, WI - The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers will need to renovate their trophy case inside Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium. Minor League Baseball announced the Midwest League affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers as winners of the National Larry MacPhail Award, which symbolizes the top promotional effort in Minor League Baseball.

"The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers do an exceptional job of not only promoting their club in the community, but also of trying to tie in an element that benefits its residents in their ballpark promotions, as well," Pat O'Conner, President of Minor League Baseball, said in a release earlier today. "The Timber Rattlers have programs and promotions in place for fans of all ages, including several geared towards improving behavior and lifestyle of area youths."

"Wisconsin's use of various social media to promote themselves, especially through their mobile web site that allows fans to interact during games, as well as throughout the off-season, merits their selection as the winner of the 2012 Larry MacPhail Award," said O'Conner.

The award has been given annually since 1966.

"We challenge ourselves as an organization to be the best every year," said Timber Rattlers president Rob Zerjav. "I am very proud of every member of our front office because it took a total team effort from everyone to win the MacPhail Award. Each person had a hand in this from the planning stages of the 2012 season right past the final out of the Midwest League Championship Series."

The Larry MacPhail Award caps off an incredible season for the Timber Rattlers.

On the field, eight players were Midwest League All-Stars, three players won a total of four Player of the Week Awards, eight former Timber Rattlers players made their Major League debuts, and the team won the first Midwest League pennant for an Appleton based team since 1984.

Off the field, the organization announced a major renovation to Time Warner Cable Field at Fox Cities Stadium - which will include a second level to the stadium with six new suites and a year round banquet facility, and Zerjav was named the Midwest League Executive of the Year for the second time.

"We have already begun to prepare for 2013," added Zerjav. "Our home opener is April 8 against Cedar Rapids. We can't wait."
