RAPIDS TO VISIT TUCSON DURING 2013 PRESEASON: The Colorado Rapids have begun the process of setting a schedule for the 2013 preseason, and will visit Tucson, Arizona for a series of preseason friendlies. The Desert Friendlies Presented by FC Tucson will involve several other MLS teams, and will feature the Rapids taking on the Portland Timbers on January 29, the Houston Dynamo on January 31, and a third, to-be-determined team on February 2.

RAPIDS ACADEMY PLAYERS ADVANCE TO CONFERENCE TOURNAMENTS: Several Rapids Academy players in college are seeking a berth into the NCAA Division 1 College Cup with important matches this week. Among them are James Rogers with #9 New Mexico (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) and Dillon Serna and the #2 University of Akron (Mid-Atlantic Conference), who are seeded first and will host their conference tournaments. Also in postseason player are Josue Chavez with Lipscomb University (Atlantic Sun Conference, 5th), and Matthew Taphorn with Central Arkansas (Missouri Valley Conference, 6th).

PATRICK SLOGIC AND CORNELL COULD CLINCH IVY LEAGUE TITLE: Rapids Academy player Patrick Slogic, a junior at Cornell University, will have the opportunity to claim the Ivy League title (and an automatic berth in the NCAA tournament) with his team when they travel to face Columbia on Saturday for their final match of the regular season. A win gives Cornell (14-1-0 overall, 5-1 in conference) the Ivy League title, while a loss or a tie opens the door for Brown (12-1-3 overall, 4-0-2 in conference) to take the championship with a win at Dartmouth. Both schools have alums currently playing for the Rapids, in Jeff Larentowicz (Brown) and Scott Palguta (Cornell).

RAPIDS FRONT OFFICE STAFF PARTICIPATNG IN MOVEMBER: Several individuals of the Colorado Rapids Front Office have taken the pledge to participate in Movember, a month long mustache-growing movement designed to raise awareness and funds for men's health issues. Among the staffers participating are club President Tim Hinchey, Chief Revenue Officer David Burke, and Director of Media Relations David Lindholm.
