Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Mark Van Guilder ...Center Mark Van Guilder scored the lone goal for Milwaukee on Wednesday night against Texas, his second goal in as many games after lighting the lamp last Sunday versus the Aeros as well. It was just the third time in his career that he has scored in back-to-back games and the first since he had consecutive two-goals contests last December 11 and 16.

Named an assistant captain this season, Van Guilder posted career highs in most offensive categories last year, posting 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists and a +8 rating. The Notre Dame University grad has totaled 52 points (23g-29a) in 170 career games over parts of five seasons with the Admirals.

PRETTY SPOOKY... The Admirals host Charlotte on Wednesday night, the 11th time in team history that they have played on Halloween. Milwaukee is 6-4 all-time on October 31st, which includes a 5-1 mark on home ice. The Ads have won three straight on Halloween, with the last time coming back in 2009 when they topped Rockford 2-1 on the road.

SLOW STARTS... The Admirals are six games into the season and have given up the first goal in each contest. Milwaukee has been outscored 8-1 in the first period and have never held a lead in either the first or second stanza. In addition, the Ads have led for just 19:09 out of 361 minutes played this season.

SHOOT 'EM DOWN ... While it hasn't resulted in an abundance of scoring, the Admirals have outshot their opponents in five of their first six contests. The only game when the Ads haven't accumulated more shots was last Wednesday night against Texas. Overall Milwaukee has outshot their foes 165-141, which includes a 62-43 differential during the third period. Last season the Admirals outshot their opponents in 41 of 76 games.

When the Lake Erie Monsters come to town on this Friday the Admirals will take a straw poll by ways of the bobblehead in Wispolitics.com Decision 2012. The first 5,000 fans to the game will be asked to choose from either an Obama Bobblehead or a Romney Bobblehead, courtesy of Robert Haack Diamonds, (2,500 of each) and the first candidate to run out will be declared the winner.
