Chicago Wolves News Release

PEORIA, Ill.---The Chicago Wolves surrendered four unanswered goals in the third period to drop a 4-1 Illinois Lottery Cup contest to the Peoria Rivermen at Carver Arena Friday night.

Center Jordan Schroeder scored for Chicago, which dropped its second straight game after opening the 2012-13 campaign with four consecutive victories.

With Chicago (4-2-0-0) leading 1-0 after 40 minutes of play, the team saw its lead evaporate 2:54 into the third period. Rivermen right wing Chris Bruton held the puck along the far boards and found right wing Anthony Peluso streaking through the slot who snapped a shot over the glove of Wolves goaltender Matt Climie.

Peoria (2-2-1-0) earned its first lead of the night four minutes later when Climie stopped left wing Andrew Murray's shot, but the rebound kicked out to the point and Evgeny Grachev collected the puck and fired a shot into an empty net at 6:54.

The Rivermen's third goal came at 11:49 when forward Derek Nesbitt fanned on a shot attempt from the near circle but regained the puck and flipped a shot over the shoulder of Climie.

Peoria closed out scoring when center T.J. Hensick and right wing Jaden Schwartz worked in the Wolves zone on a two-on-one break and Hensick found Schwartz back door, who scored on a tap-in past Climie at 15:13.

Climie (1-1-0) thwarted 29 of 33 shots.

The Wolves lone goal came 2:57 into the second period. Center Steve Pinizzotto forced a turnover at the Peoria blue line and sent a pass to right wing Darren Haydar in the near circle who deked a Rivermen defenseman and slipped the puck to Schroeder who beat goaltender Jake Allen, top-shelf.

Allen (1-3-0) posted 32 saves.

The Wolves return home to take on the San Antonio Rampage at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Allstate Arena.
