Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID (10/23/12) - The Idaho Steelheads, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced Tuesday morning that goaltender Josh Robinson has been named the ECHL Reebok Hockey Goaltender of the Week for October 15 - 22.

The 22-year-old from Frankenmuth, Michigan, made his first two professional starts last week on the road at Colorado, winning both while posting a 1.50 goals-against average and .948 save percentage.

Robinson turned aside 20 of 22 shots in his professional debut, a 3-2 Idaho win on October 19. He followed it up the next night by stopping 35 of 36 in a 6-1 Steelheads victory.

Robinson is in his first professional season out of Michigan Tech University, where he won 15 games as a senior, the most wins by a Tech goalie in one season since 1992-93. The performance earned him an AHL-level contract with the Texas Stars and the Stars assigned him to Idaho in early October.

It's the 11th time an Idaho goaltender has received the league's weekly award since joining the ECHL for the 2003-04 season. Bryan Hince and Jerry Kuhn each won the award last year, joining Steve Silverthorn (twice), Rejean Beauchemin (twice), Matt Climie, Matt Zaba, Kellen Briggs, and Richard Bachman.

The Steelheads return to action Wednesday night at CenturyLink Arena in downtown Boise, hosting the Ontario Reign at 7:10 PM.

Suites to an Idaho Steelheads hockey game are a great way to get friends, clients, or customers together for an enjoyable evening in downtown Boise. Suites start at $550, feature a private area for visiting and viewing the game, come with specialized wait staff, and also come with at least 12 tickets to the game. Suites for late November and December are booking quickly for holiday parties. Contact the Idaho Steelheads front office at 208.383.0080 for more information.
