Bulldogs Conclude Pre-Season with 2-0 Loss to the Marlies

Brantford, Ontario - The Toronto Marlies defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-0 in front of a capacity crowd at Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre on Monday night. Ryan Hamilton scored the game-winning goal while Sam Carrick notched the other marker for the Marlies.
The Bulldogs and Marlies played to a scoreless first period as the 'Dogs led 17-6 in shots.
The Marlies opened the scoring at 11:22 of the second frame on a goal by Ryan Hamilton. Hamilton picked up the puck off of Mark Fraser and went in on a breakaway and slid the puck under the pad of Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Peter Delmas. After 40 minutes of play, the Hamilton Bulldogs still had the lead in shots 23-14.
The Marlies added to their lead at 2:46 of the third stanza as Greg McKegg picked up the puck at the bottom of the circle and slid a pass to Sam Carrick in the slot. Carrick one-timed a shot along the ice as the puck went in the net under the pad of Delmas. Ben Scrivens and Jussi Rynnas combined to make 29 saves to shut out the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs' 17th season-opener is scheduled for Saturday, October 13th at 7:30 p.m. at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan where they will play the Griffins. The game will be broadcast live on Funny 820 and hamiltonbulldogs.com. Derek Wills and Al Craig will have the Pioneer pre-game show all season starting half an hour before puck drop. The team's home-opener is set for Friday, October 19th at 7:30 p.m. when they will host the Marlies at Copps Coliseum in Hamilton.
