Baldwin Joins Idaho Training Camp

Boise, ID (10/2/12) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Tuesday that the Idaho Steelheads have added defenseman Gord Baldwin to their training camp roster.

Baldwin, 25, played professionally in the Czech Republic last season after skating in more than 230 American Hockey League regular-season games. The 6-foot-5 blue-liner played three seasons at the AHL level after playing major-junior hockey for the Western Hockey League's Medicine Hat Tigers. Baldwin was a third-round selection of the Calgary Flames in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Ralph on Baldwin: "Gord brings a lot of size and experience on the back end. We've already seen his intelligence in practice and we're expecting a lot of good to come from him, both on and off the ice."

Ralph has eight defensemen currently in training camp - Baldwin, Patrick Cullity, Deron Cousens, Craig Gaudet, Scott Fletcher, Scott Todd, James Isaacs, and Mike Switzer. Matt Case, whose ECHL rights belong to Idaho, is currently in training camp with the AHL's Texas Stars.

The Steelheads play two pre-season games this weekend, playing in Logan, UT, against the Utah Grizzlies on Friday night before returning home Saturday night to host the Grizzlies in the third-annual Season-Ticket Holders Only game.

The 16th season of professional hockey in Boise kicks off on Friday, October 12, when the Idaho Steelheads host the Utah Grizzlies at CenturyLink Arena. Season Ticket packages are available now, starting at just $275 per seat for all 36 home games. Partial-season packages start at as little as $150 for fans who want a little more flexibility.
