Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star 2013 Set for Connecticut's Mohegan Sun Arena

NEW YORK, Sept. 27, 2012 - Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star 2013 will take place at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., on Saturday, July 27, WNBA President Laurel J. Richie announced today.
This marks the third time that the All-Star Game will be played at Mohegan Sun Arena, which previously hosted the WNBA's showcase event in 2005 and 2009. This is also the first time Boost Mobile - which became the first league-wide WNBA marquee partner in 2011 - will serve as the title partner of the league's All-Star Game.
Tip-off time for the league's 11th All-Star Game and details regarding the national telecast will be released at a later date.
"We're thrilled to partner with Boost Mobile to bring the WNBA All-Star Game back to Mohegan Sun where the Connecticut Sun and the Mohegan tribe have been outstanding hosts, and where one of the WNBA's most dedicated fan bases has made previous All-Star weekends incredibly memorable," said Richie. "We look forward to showcasing the extraordinary talent of the best women's basketball player in the world in a renowned hotbed for the sport."

"It is a tribute to our fans, to Mohegan Sun, and to the Mohegan Tribe. We look forward to staging another memorable event." By hosting Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star 2013, Connecticut joins New York as the only venues to host the WNBA All-Star Game three times.
In addition to hosting the league's first All-Star event on July 14, 1999, New York's Madison Square Garden was the site of the All-Star Game in 2003 and again in 2006 during the league's 10thanniversary season. Washington, the only other city to host the game multiple times, did so in 2002 and 2007.
Sun season ticket holders will have an opportunity to purchase their current seat for the 2013 All Star Game in advance of a public on-sale date. Material for purchasing their seats will be forwarded in the next few weeks. Others with an opportunity to purchase tickets prior to the public sale date include fans who purchase a Connecticut Sun mini-plan, which will be announced after the 2013 WNBA regular season schedule is released. Individual tickets to the All-Star Game will be available to the general public when tickets for individual regular season games go on sale at all Ticketmaster locations and the Mohegan Sun box office. The 2009 WNBA All-Star Game, held at Mohegan Sun, was the highest scoring game in the series as the Western Conference defeated the Eastern Conference, 130-118, behind the play of Swin Cash, who scored an All-Star Game record 22 points en route to Most Valuable Player honors. Four years earlier, Lisa Leslie threw down a dunk but teammate Sheryl Swoopes scored 15 points to earn MVP honors as the West topped the East, 122-99. In 2010, Mohegan also was the site of a special midseason event, "WNBA vs. USA Basketball: The Stars at the -MORE- Boost Mobile WNBA All-Star 2013 -- Page 2
Sun." That game pitted the U.S. National Team (comprised of 11 WNBA stars and then-collegian Maya Moore) against a team of WNBA stars as part of a four-day training camp for the U.S. squad, which was preparing for the 2010 FIBA World Championship in the Czech Republic.
