Mill Rats Sign Mike Anderson

September 20, 2012 - National Basketball League of Canada (NBL Canada) Saint John Mill Rats

(Saint John, NB): The Saint John Mill Rats announced the signing of local basketball player, 6'3 guard Mike Anderson, today at their Press Conference in the Centre Court of Brunswick Square

Anderson, from Grand Bay, is a 2005 graduate of Harbour View High School and played his college ball at the University of New Brunswick - Fredericton. He made the Varsity Reds as a walk on five years ago playing under 5 minutes per game, but emerged as a leader of the team in his last two years, averaging 13.5 and 16.5 points per game.

He first joined the team during their inaugural season in the Port City in January of 2011. Last season, the Mill Rats left the Premier Basketball League and started the National Basketball League of Canada with the Halifax Rainmen. This will be the third season for the Mill Rats playing in Saint John.

"I'm super excited to have the opportunity to play pro ball again for the Mill Rats. I've been working hard on my game and I'm looking forward to competing at this level again. Having Dave Cooper as a coach is going to be an awesome experience - I have a lot of respect for him and for his knowledge of the game," Anderson says.

Head Coach David Cooper looks forward to the season adding, "I'm excited to have Mike on our roster, first as a person and secondly, as a player. He is an exceptional athlete that can help us on both ends of the floor. He's a spark in the locker room, on the court and in the community. I'm excited to have the opportunity to coach and work with him."

The Saint John Mill Rats regular season opener is November 3rd at Harbour Station. Season tickets are on sale now at the Harbour Station Box Office and at the Mill Rats Fan Zone in Brunswick Square on the second level (next to Tim Hortons).

The Mill Rats are excited to offer their floor courtside table season ticket packages containing 4 seats to their fans this season. For more info, please click here Q1Ofu8wU].

Current season ticket holders are reminded to renew their tickets as soon as possible so they do not lose their seats for the upcoming 2012-2013 NBL Canada season.
