Gwinnett Braves Award August Grant to Foundation to FlySeptember 20, 2012 - International League (IL) Gwinnett Braves
The "Roots and Wings" program is designed to guide girls to embrace who they are and empower them to make a difference in the world around them. The program is for all girls enrolled in grades 3-5 who would like to become leaders in their everyday life or in the community. Through "Roots and Wings," girls learn to clearly express their wants and needs, build healthy, supporting relationships, understand and manage their emotions, set short and long-term goals and problem-solve effectively.
Foundation to Fly has successfully implemented the program at White Oak Elementary School in Gwinnett County and Morgan County Elementary School in Morgan County. The grant money awarded by the Gwinnett Braves will help the foundation expand the program to two additional schools, funding the training of two new site leaders.
"Foundation to Fly, Inc. is so honored to be chosen by the Gwinnett Braves as the August recipient," said Janelle Draper, founder and board president of the foundation. "It is so encouraging when others see the value of our mission and partner with us to support our efforts. We are dreaming big and looking forward to reaching many more girls with the message that 'They Matter!' Thank you to the Gwinnett Braves organization for the work they do to support our community."
