Ramon Named AA Playoff MVPSeptember 17, 2012 - American Association (AA) Winnipeg Goldeyes
Ramon, 29, led the Goldeyes with a .467 batting average, two home runs and nine RBI in the six games during the playoffs.
"Amos always came up with the big hit when we needed it," Goldeyes manager Rick Forney said. "After battling back from all the injuries he has gone through during the last two seasons and the way he played in the playoffs, he is very deserving of this award."
Ramon started Winnipeg's championship run in Game 1 against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks with a go-ahead two-run home run in the seventh inning and three RBI in a 4-2 win. In Game 2 against Wichita in the championship series, he hit a three-run home in the bottom of the sixth inning that gave the Goldeyes a 5-3 lead and setup their 7-3 victory. Ramon capped off the magical post-season with a two-for-four night in Game 3 on Friday and drove in a run in the five-run second inning Winnipeg had, which led the championship-clinching victory.
During the regular season, Ramon batted .281 with four home runs and 35 RBI in 71 games.
After being acquired from the Lake County Fielders prior to the 2011 season, Ramon tore the ACL in his left knee on Opening Day 2011 and missed the rest of the regular season. He also missed a month this season with a separate shoulder.
